Susan, and her brother Johnny, are the two children of the world-renowned surgeon Dr. Franklin Storm and his wife Mary.
Clearly Ms. Storm’s history explains her infatuation with the bookish Dr. Richards…  But that, however, is a story for another
issue.  As is customary in many success stories like Susan’s, tragedy came visiting at an early age.
A rare early photo of Dr. Storm and his wife Mary.
One evening Susan and Johnny were left at home while their
parents went to a dinner honoring Dr. Storm.  While travelling to
the dinner, a tire blew-out on the Storm’s car and a terrible
accident ensued.  Franklin escaped the crash unscathed, but
Mary was not so fortunate.  Insisting on being the surgeon to
operate on his wife, Franklin feverishly tried to save Mary’s life,
to no avail.

According to friends of the family who wish to remain nameless,
Franklin Storm began to seriously unravel after the death of his
wife.  One would imagine his mind being riddled with guilt and
shame and, not surprisingly, he turned to vice.  It wasn’t long
before Franklin lost his medical practice, and license, to his
drinking and gambling habits.

conjunction with her televison biography special.
“He couldn’t save her on the operating table and fell into
depression and gambling,” said a source close to the family.
“When a loan shark came to collect on his debts, a struggle broke
out. The thug’s gun accidentally went off and Dr. Storm went to
prison on a 20 year manslaughter charge.  Completely broken by
shame and remorse, he refused to defend himself in court.”  After
many years, Confidential has made an explosive discovery in this
matter.  See the sidebar for all the sordid details!  After graduating
high school as the award-winning captain of her Girls' Varsity Swim
Team,  Susan moved to California to attend college, where she
pursued an acting career.  “Susan went to California to try to find
work as an actress, and managed to get infrequent, small roles in television and commercials,” says her aunt, who still runs the same New
York boarding home.  “I knew Reed was also at that time living in California, so I informed Susan.”  And the rest, as they say, is history.

Susan quickly headed to Richards’ Central City complex where he was working.  A whirlwind courtship ensued and the two eventually
became engaged to marry.  As everyone most certainly knows by this point, Dr. Richards was working on an experimental rocket ship for
the U.S. Government.  The details of what happened next, until today, have been shrouded in mystery.
What we can tell you now is that
Confidential has learned from sources
within the Pentagon that the project was
seriously over budget and that the military
had informed Richards that the funding he
was receiving was about to be cut off.  Not
wanting to see his beloved rocket-ship
project relegated to the dust-bin of history,
a brash Richards decided to sneak into the
ship himself, with Susan, her brother and
pilot Benjamin J. Grimm and give it a test
flight before funding was ended and the
project scrapped.

one-fourth of “The Fantastic Four.”  Calling her a
celebrity is an understatement.  She now operates
in an atmosphere of influence few in this world
understand or will ever experience.  She recently
even joined the First Lady at a White House
reception.  As long as Susan hobnobs and globe-
trots with the world’s rich, powerful and influential,
Confidential will be there to document it.
Congratulations Susan on being the “It” Girl of 1961!
Susan Storm was approached before publication
of this story for comment.  She respectfully
declined, but was kind enough to send over an
autographed 8x10 glossy for inclusion with our
story.

Susan Storm.  Men want her.  Women want to be her.  That’s what it
takes to be Confidential’s “It Girl” for 1961.  But don’t let the
glamour fool you.  Ms. Storm, the voluptuous paramour of Dr. Reed
Richards, wasn’t always the alluring bombshell she is today.  She
grew up, like  many of us, in the suburbs, longing to “make it” in the
big city.  Her and her family resided in Glenville, Long Island… not
far from the city she now calls home.

Confidential has even obtained classified
cockpit security footage of the four
individuals inside the rocket preparing for
take-off.  It makes one wonder who inside
the Pentagon may have known of Richards’
“secret” plans.  A Congressional inquiry
into the failed test flight has been
classified top secret since the event and
our sources were reluctant to discuss its
contents.  What we can say, obviously, is
that something “Fantastic” happened to
those four individuals upon returning to
Earth.
