The Carter White House woke up with some serious egg on its face today!  For two
weeks, rumors of a Soviet interception of a U.S. weapons convoy to the Mujahedeen
freedom fighters of Afghanistan has been circulating around the “in” crowd in the

Zbigniew Brzezinski, Col. Nick Fury, and Pakistani

Capital.  A Marvel Confidential source within S.H.I.E.L.D.,
upon condition of anonymity, could only ask rhetorically,
“Will the Marvels inadvertently cause World War III?”
As far as our sources have been able to state, and we
remind you again that none of this information is
confirmed, S.H.I.E.L.D. had been directed by the Carter
Administration to transfer a large weapons cache from a
remote location in Pakistan to the locals fighting off the
inhumane and illegal Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
Contracted to protect the convoy was Spider-Woman
and the Black Widow, two women that even Marvel
Confidential, with it’s worldwide web of reporters,
informants, agents and associates, can’t really get a
handle on.
Pakistani protesters burning an effigy
of Iron Man
Spider-Woman was apparently contracted through
SHIELD agent Jerry Hunt and FBI agent Scott McDowell.
Both, as far as can be discerned, are long-time
associates.  While the Carter Administration has
scrambled to either a) poorly explain or b) outright
Natasha Romanoff, reportedly also known as the costumed Black Widow,
secretly photographed outside the Soviet Embassy in Oslo, Norway with
an unidentified Soviet Agent, only days before the alleged assault on the
convoy.
Marvel Confidential has been unable to confirm these allegations, but we have
obtained secret surveillance photographs of Romanoff outside the Soviet
Embassy in Oslo, as well as classified photographs of the convoy raid itself,
taken by a Daily Globe reporter embedded on the mission, showing
Spider-Woman and the Black Widow clearly within the vicinity.

What this means or what ultimately happened we can only guess at, but rest
assured, if the Marvels continue to meddle in international affairs in such a
brazen and careless manner, you can know that your fate is their hands and not
your own.

The White House was quick to release a photograph of President Carter
meeting with his National Security Advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski as well as
Captain America and Chairman of the Joints Chief of Staff David C. Jones,
discussing the implications of the embarrassing incident.

As long as Americans are still spending their time waiting
on gasoline lines, they won’t be paying much attention to
incidents like this one.  That being said, it certainly does
not erase the embarrassment the Carter Administration
must be feeling at this moment, having been caught red-
handed perpetrating exactly the fraud they had been so
strongly denying for months.  Protests of the Marvels
involvement in international affairs have broken out
across the Middle East.  We’ll have to wait and see how
the Administration is going to weather this fiasco.

information as it becomes available.
A Marvel Two-In-One!  Top Secret photos from an embedded Daily Globe photographer show Spider-Woman accompanying the convoy as it leaves Pakistan and the Black
Widow reportedly stopping the convoy moments before the Soviets struck!
cover-up the situation, Marvel Confidential has learned that insiders from the KGB have apparently
bragged that Natasha Romanoff, also known as the costumed Black Widow, betrayed the mission to
Soviet colleagues in the KGB.
